Conventional Safety Relief Valves

Conventional Safety Relief Valves are those, which work on simple working principle of force balance.
The basic elements of a spring-loaded PSV/SRV include an inlet nozzle mounted in valve body, which is connected to the vessel or system to be protected, a movable disc, which controls flow through the nozzle and a spring, which controls the position of the disc.
The operation of a conventional spring-loaded PSV/SRV is based on a force balance principle. Under normal operating conditions, until the pressure at the inlet is below the set pressure or opening pressure, the disc is seated on the nozzle preventing flow through the nozzle.
When the pressure at inlet exceeds set pressure/opening pressure, then pressure force on the bottom of disc overcomes the spring force, lifts the disc affecting opening of valve and relieves the excessive pressure in system.
When the inlet pressure drops sufficiently below the set pressure / opening pressure, the spring force overcomes the pressure force, the disc re-seats on nozzle and valve closes.
An adjustable Blow Down Ring is provided for adjusting the opening in the annular orifice, thus controlling the pressure build-up in the huddling chamber. This controlled pressure build-up in the huddling chamber will overcome the spring force causing the disc to move away from the nozzle seat, and the valve will pop open. With this, fine adjustment in over pressure and blow down can be done.
As a standard, unless specified, all our Safety Relief Valves are Full Nozzle Full Lift and tested for 10% over pressure.
